The Medieval Genre of "Summa" and the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri
- PDF: http://izv-oifn.ru/articles/73/public/73-398-1-PB.pdf
- Absract:
The present article studies medieval summa as a literary genre in its own right with well-defined content and formal characteristics such as "collection of knowledge" on a given subject, strict classification of material, references to authorities, and both practical and moral aims. Originating in the scholastic method, the summa gradually expanded its range of applications, catering to broader categories of readers and even making its way into literature. The "Divina Commedia" of Dante Alighieri is considered as a special transformation of the genre of summa.
